Currently we have 4 Server Operators:

Frank, ST2, Wacko1976, Inscius!

We are badly looking for moderators!

Want to be part of the team?! Want to help?! Read below...

NOTE:
Admins will act on the basis that ALL players know the game and it's mechanics.
We think that no one goes to an online game without first some practice and know how to play it.
Companies without registered nicknames (as shown in Client List) on it, can be reset without warning!
To learn OpenTTD mechanics, there is a forum/wiki and... a Single Player mode!!
Practice before playing on BTPro, and if you decide to start, READ THE RULES first.

If you wish to become part of the BTPro Server Operator family, ensuring that the rules are upheld with fairly and justly,
the willingness to teach new players on how to play the game and to make sure BTPro is one of the most relaxed,
entertaining servers out there for OpenTTD then apply in the Moderator Applications section below!

Also do not hesitate to ask us a question in the forums or when you see us online on one of the servers!

Happy Gaming!

The biggest mistake people make... 7 years 3 months ago #6154

People playing openttd make a lot of mistakes, e.g.:
- creating too short routes at the beginning, and just waiting five years to get any money,
- do not checking cargo payment rates to see what is the most profitable,
- avoiding diagnonal tracks and creating sharp turns,
- waiting to satisfy the nearest demand (in CB), instead of taking care of next one or two...

But the biggest mistake they make is quitting when anyone plays better. Believe me, the best way to learn how to play is to watch someone better than you. And I mean: strategy, not the speed of tracks building.

So, watch and ask.
Many players here are ready to help you.

The thread was created to make the point, and also to reduce forum stagnation during vacations :)
Thank you and enjoy the game!

Here a picture of how not to do it. This brakes down a train SH'125 from 201km/h to 88km/h (for example). Try to build a 90° curve over some more tiles. ;)

That above underlined sentence is like Bullseye. Did that watching "someone who plays better than me" (referring to player named Alencar here) part quite recently in server#15 citybuilder and i have to say, it did help quite a lot by just watching someone else play.
Got to know multiple tips which i didn´t even know before and a bit better strategy for CB servers (for example transport shared orders, city layout for faster growth, better way to deliver goods to a city, etc).
