Town cann't grow because of mail 10 years 3 weeks ago #3635

Hi,

I tried to find the solution, but I couldn't find that someone had the same problem as I'm. I started 4k citizens game, build HQ in my town, but wherever I place truck station it doesn't accept mail... Town won't grow if I just deliver passengers. How can I force the town to request mail?

Thank you.

It does, but not on it's own untill the 4th level of the HQ. But yeah, together with some houses it does.

I don't know the exact number (anymore), but this could for example mean that 4 houses don't accept mail, but 4 houses + HQ together do.

It's weird though, I have the feeling that your bus/truckstation should have enough buildings in it's range to accept mail. Atleast it should when you make it 2 tiles big, so it covers a few more houses.

Anyway, the solution would be to pick a town that does have enough houses to accept mail, pretty much all of them do.

just a complement:
- about HQ, maybe this will help;
- about mail at start, as vGelder said, better pick up one with enough houses to accept it ;)

hint: with the Land Information tool , check acceptance of each town building. If it says 1/8 Mail, you'll need 8 similar houses. Bigger building accept 2/8 Mail (needs 4 similar houses. In other words and quoting OpenTTD wiki : " For a station to accept these cargos, the buildings in the station's coverage area must accept a total of at least 8/8 of the cargo." (works for several cargo types)

Hope it helps :)
