NOTE:
Admins will act on the basis that ALL players know the game and it's mechanics.
We think that no one goes to an online game without first some practice and know how to play it.
Companies without registered nicknames (as shown in Client List) on it, can be reset without warning!
To learn OpenTTD mechanics, there is a forum/wiki and... a Single Player mode!!
Practice before playing on BTPro, and if you decide to start, READ THE RULES first.


 
If you wish to become part of the BTPro Server Operator family, ensuring that the rules are upheld with fairly and justly,
the willingness to teach new players on how to play the game and to make sure BTPro is one of the most relaxed,
entertaining servers out there for OpenTTD then apply in the Moderator Applications section below!

Climate vote command for random climate servers 6 years 1 day ago #6845

Hi !

Could it be possible to create extra command for random climate servers, for voting next map climate?
Instead of current way, when you have climate randoming each time server starts/restarts. Players would have extra option to vote via ingame command, what next map climate could be.
Command for that could be !votenextclimate, after which players could give their vote as follows:
!votenextclimate followed by climate number (#1 temperate, #2 arctic, #3 desert, #4 toyland).
- Vote example: !votenextclimate #1.
Voting lasts maximum of 2 minutes, or until all clients have given their vote.
If all clients should quit during voting time, voting process is canceled.
If new !votenextclimate command is executed, new climate voting starts, previous result is erased.
If !votenextclimate commands is executed during voting process, it gives error to person who tried executing it, that voting is still in progress and new vote command can´t be executed.
Time between each time !votenextclimate can be executed, should be set to "some seconds/minute", in order to avoid multiple continous command executions.

Now after voting process ends, game is not automatically restarted yet ! -> this gives good option to start voting process, before current game is still in progress.
Vote result climate, is set after automatic server restart (if previous game finished with goal reached) or by player executing command !voterestartgame or !voterestart .

Climate vote command for random climate servers 6 years 1 day ago #6846

hi!
Currently it's not possible, because !vote commands communicate with server controller ( xShunter ) but not directly with the game. Not sure if even possible the controller (or any plugin) change that .cfg setting ( landscape ).
Currently it's more like a "hack" on game code with a ON/OFF option (stored on .cfg file too) to randomize climate and saves it on the mentioned setting in the .cfg file. Only after the map is generated.

Anyway, the suggestion is very good, thank you :)
