Welcome to the BTPro OpenTTD Community

This community was build around the game: OpenTTD
OpenTTD is an (Free) open source simulation game based upon Transport Tycoon Deluxe


 

!!! Please note that a few servers have been shut-down !!!
Most of the times these servers were doing nothing (no players),
that's why I've decided to slim down the number of OpenTTD servers running.

I have made a selection to keep the most popular servers online.
If you miss a OpenTTD server that you REALLY played a lot, please do post
in the forums. I will then check if I can get it back online!

I'm trying to work from now on with only 1 physical server to
run all OpenTTD instances!

NOTE:
Admins will act on the basis that ALL players know the game and it's mechanics.
We think that no one goes to an online game without first some practice and know how to play it.
Companies without registered nicknames (as shown in Client List) on it, can be reset without warning!
To learn OpenTTD mechanics, there is a forum/wiki and... a Single Player mode!!
Practice before playing on BTPro, and if you decide to start, READ THE RULES first.

I did it!
Arguably not that impressive though. I played specifically to get 1 bil a year, not to reach 15 bil CV, and I ended up playing in ways that are clearly suboptimal for regular K1 play (Note the late year and relatively low bank balance, 50 years in and I'm not even 50% towards the goal). Nevertheless, it was a fun challenge, though I don't think I'm a speedy enough builder to do it the normal way.

In case anyone is curious what I did, I started with coal, just enough so I could continually build without having to wait for cash. Then I built Iron Ore, then I built more Iron Ore, then I did oil, but I only shipped the oil to a local refinery so that the oil rigs could start to increase their production, didn't transfer onto trains. Then I did more Iron ore, and some more Iron ore. Once the steel mill was reliably producing 5-10 thousand tons a month, I started working on infrastructure for steel, oil transfers and goods. Once I had all that in place, I unleashed about 160-ish Steel, oil and goods trains simultaneously and watched my income skyrocket.

...And here's a map as well. End of game I was making about 1.15 Bil a year, with 270 trains, 40 ships, 11 RV's and 0 planes. After I hit 1 bil a year, I didn't build anything new, just added extra trains here and there when they seemed to be needed. Took 57 years in the end, so not a particularly fast game. On a semi-related note, my fastest game on K1 to date is still one where I went to sleep halfway through, will have to do something about that sometime.

I guess the new challenge is 1.5bil? I can somewhat reliable make 1.2b games now. And yeah, the secret is just to build like a maniac i guess. I tried Inscius' setup once but i dont feel it. I like farms, i feel like they grow much faster than other industries.

Fastest game too, 30 years flat. 6 hours 55 minut =)
