When goal is reached and a company won, other companies are closed and, if any players on them, are moved to spectators. During this actions, this can happen: (wrong company in DoCommand) causing desync with server info and player go out of the game. OpenTTD thingies and at least I think it's this the cause and what you're talking about
Anyway, don't worry with it. Happens sporadically and it's only a bit annoying because you have to join again the server. Sorry for that

May I ask what is the "No. of Companies"?

it's the Number of Companies in the OpenTTD servers.

Note that Test servers can not be included on those numbers (Players, Companies or Servers).
