TOPIC:

The train has two depots it could go to but as it's ordered to stop "near end", it stops on the other side of the station. This way the train never gets replaced. Is it a bug or intended behavior?

It will be replaced eventually when it goes for maintenance. It's not a bug, it's a flaw in your track design.
