I like decorating my stations in FIRS using industrial station NewGRF's. We're using NewGRF's anyway, can't we include the stations too?

They are, yes. Many of the popular NewGRF's are directly downloadable from the client.

Industrial Stations Renewal isn't very FIRS compatible, but I have tested a game with CHIPS which is not quite as nice looking (yet) but is designed to work with FIRS so that's probably best choice, also I found a train set that will take recyclables
