I have the same problem, but name is written under multiplayer settings.
Also when I start OTTD, i get the community screen, but no community is pre-selected.

Update:
Strangly after playing 2-3 times, suddenly auto-login works again like a charm without me changing anything, no clue what was wrong

I works fine for me. Maybe helps to set to "Run with administrator privileges" on the openttd.exe, as it's an unsigned executable and changes the configuration files in some more places as the original.
Player info (User/PW) must be entered on the Intro Menu, when a community is selected, and not directly on the .cfg file. I tested on Windows 7 and 10 and both worked like a charm.

quick update, the new version seems to fix this. maybe was a bug for some of us?
