there's a Readme.txt file included with some basic instructions and I guess you have extracted the included files to a totally new folder. the correct way is: "- Extract "openttd.exe" and "lang" folder to OpenTTD instalation folder (usually in C:\Program files\OpenTTD). Overwrite them, if necessary." The folder itself can be different... depends on where you installed OpenTTD.
Anyway, before overwrite any files ** It's recommended to make a full backup of the OpenTTD instalation folder **
