I've been trying to found out how you can play on these servers. But not any combination of CHIPS and FIRS newgrf settings have worked so far. I keep getting the incompatible GRF error.

If you're having trouble connecting, take a look at the openttd wiki, here . It should automatically download the content required when you click on "NewGRF settings" and hit ok

Also on second thoughts, we have more than just the CHIPS and FIRS newgrf installed on those two servers so make sure you have all of them if you're not doing the standard way of downloading them.

I guess Ashnoom solved it... for what I saw it was only outdated NewGRF's

Indeed.

I was using the btpro client to directly connect using the #8 and #9 buttons.

These don't automagically download the required GRF's. I had to go to multiplayer and then select the correct server to 'manually' download the required GRF's.

But indeed, solved
