sometimes i use these signals to organize a short queue:

1 signal immediately before the fork.
fork's legs are long enough to accomodate a train.
1 signal before the station on the each lane.

it allows you, in case the station is full
to pass some more trains on thir individual lanes,
leaving the entry leg free.

the profit is similar to the "bernulli's law"

the slowest phase of the motion (station entry) become executed IN PARALLEL so that multiplying overall average performance over a network segment adjacent to the station.
